Dog Description
Yogi
Yogi is a gorgeous German Shepherd born 8/11/25. He is an old soul with a big heart and a love for cuddles – his nature is loyal and sweet. Fostered in Waiuku in Auckland, Yogi follows basic commands sit/wait/come/leave it. He is a sedate walker on lead, he enjoys stopping for all the sniffs and will immediately sit when asked (including at traffic stops) but does need an experienced handler who not only understands German Shepherds but also understands puppies in training and will command his attention when he needs to be re-directed. He is highly food motivated which has made training a breeze. On all our walks through Waiuku township he’s used to bicycles, mobility scooters, kids bouncing balls and people jogging. He’s still trying to figure out why dogs like to bark at his big size though and is learning barking isn’t hello. He is fully toilet trained, fully vaccinated and will be de-sexed under the Saving Hope adoption process. He has been raised around multiple dogs of varying sizes, as well as an elderly indoor cat who he has been thoroughly trained to not bat an eyelid over – being a German Shepherd, he would need the same level of care, if you have a dog confident cat in your home. He is not suited to a home with stock and is looking for a very specific family: One with German Shepherd experience, who are home during the day or can take him on their journeys, daily walks essential, on-going training essential and ideally a home where he can be your sole Prince, your best friend and doting shadow. Bonus points if you let him keep his paddling pool – this boy loves water. If you’re able to meet Yogi’s needs, please pop in an application to chat and arrange a no obligation to adopt meet and greet with this very special boy.
