Dog Description

Patrice

Patrice, male. Mixed-breed, DOB 2 February 2024. Patrice is a calm, affectionate and well-behaved pup with a playful, gentle nature. He is an absolute pleasure to foster with his lovely temperament, good manners, and laid-back approach to life. Patrice and his littermates were born in foster care, and his life has been filled with love and kindness from the start. As he grows, his personality shines through more and more, and he is a most endearing boy, one who can be a bit of a clown at times. Everyone who meets him comments on how well-adjusted and affectionate he is. It doesn’t take him long to make friends, both human and of the canine variety. Patrice loves praise and treats, and responds well to basic commands. He certainly has the intelligence and ability to do well with formal training. Patrice has completed a five-day puppy training course at Animates. He walks extremely well on a harness and lead. He really enjoys his walks, which are always followed by a well-earned sleep! Patrice is equally comfortable doing a leisurely sniffing stroll or a longer, brisk walk, as long as he is beside his favourite human. While he has not done any off lead walks yet, his recall, if trained correctly, should be excellent. He has met cats on his walks and has shown no interest at all. One of the reasons he has such well-developed social skills is his regular attendance at puppy daycare, where he gets to meet a range of dogs and people. He is adored by the staff and his doggy playmates. He also spends time with our two large dogs at home and holds his own with confidence. Patrice will definitely fit in well with a family who already has a dog but will be equally at ease without a companion dog. He is extremely fond of children but does need a break from toddlers when it is his time to sleep. Being a young, growing boy, he still has naps in the morning and afternoon. As with all pups, we recommend that Patrice not be left alone for long periods of time until he is a bit older and well settled in at his new home. He is a very content puppy, who can keep himself occupied playing with his toys or chewing a hoof. He is not destructive and has shown no inclination to chew things randomly. Patrice is housetrained and puts himself to bed. While he sleeps through the night without whimpering, he does still have a toilet session between 4 am and 6 am, so an overnight puppy pad is necessary. He loves his meals and is not a fussy eater, but he does have a few favourites, such as homemade oat and peanut butter biscuits and bully sticks. He is rather partial to a bowl of fresh yoghurt with chopped apple/blueberries and honey, or a bowl of cooked oats with milk and honey. He appreciates a juicy, raw Jimbo’s veal bone whenever one comes his way. With love, gentle guidance, and training, he’ll grow to be a fine dog and a faithful companion to his forever family, and they will have many happy years of fun and adventure together. Patrice is fostered in Millwater, Silverdale.
