Dog Description
Gatsby
Gatsby, male, mixed breed. DOB 10 April 2026. Gatsby is a calm, affectionate boy with a big heart and a gentle nature. A happy, friendly pup, with a playful and confident manner, he is an adorable softy who loves to be involved in daily life. Look at that little face! This handsome young boy with his rich chestnut-coloured coat and striking facial markings is rightly called “the Great Gatsby”.
Don’t let his serious expression fool you! Gatsby has an absolute love of life and enjoys every minute of every day. It is wonderful to watch him take such pleasure in all that he experiences, with his long, wagging tail working overtime. Day by day, his personality is becoming more distinct and is shining through; he is a remarkable pup indeed.__ Gatsby is human-bonded and is a well-adjusted boy who interacts well with people. He plays respectfully with his littermates and our large dogs, under our supervision, of course, given his young age. He loves being outside on the deck or in the garden, weather permitting. He gives his toys a good workout, jumping in amongst them, searching for his current favourite stuffed animal.
Gatsby is a strong, healthy pup with a robust and well-proportioned body. Vaccinations, deworming, and tick, mite and flea treatments are up to date. His toilet training is coming along nicely. He is not a noisy or destructive pup. He is clean in his habits and eats and sleeps well. He knows how to share and displays no resource guarding. He eats from his own bowl.
Gatsby sits for his treats and is learning basic commands. He is responsive and smart and will be easy to train because he focuses quickly, loves to please, and seems to understand what is expected of him. With his alert, inquisitive nature, he is sure to excel at obedience training.
He loves to fall asleep on my lap but is happy to put himself to bed if I am not sitting with him. Gatsby sleeps through at night, either in his bed or crate, without complaining. Although he does wake up to go toilet and drink water, so I would not recommend shutting the crate’s door. Wait until he is a little older – if at all.
Gatsby has never been on his own for long and he needs a family that will not leave him alone for an extended period until he is a bit older. He will do very well either as the only dog or with a companion dog, and he is great with children. He has not met any cats yet but should be fine with them after a proper introduction.
Let Gatsby teach you how to have fun! He has a zest for life and loves to zoom around the puppy enclosure and outside – weather permitting! He’s still a young dog and will thrive on further training. He is looking for a home where he can continue learning and reach his full potential of amazing awesomeness. Gatsby would be the ideal companion for an active family or someone who enjoys a daily walk or run.
Gatsby is fostered in Millwater, Silverdale.
