Don’t be fooled by Arnie’s serious look because inside his little puppy body beats a heart of gold, with so much love to give — and a tail that never stops wagging! When you first meet Arnie, you will be drawn to his captivating eyes. Unlike many puppies, Arnie doesn’t seem to regard eye contact as a challenge or threat. Instead, he uses it to communicate with his favourite humans. Whether he is out on a walk or simply hanging around, he will regularly look to his people for reassurance, recognition and connection. Arnie is the type of dog who will form strong bonds with the people around him. As he grows up, those relationships will become incredibly important to him. At night, Arnie happily sleeps in his crate and he is also comfortable spending time in it during the day. However, he probably won’t enjoy being left alone for long, continuous periods. Because he is a puppy who is likely to form a strong bond with his family, he would benefit from plenty of human company during his first few months while he continues to explore his world, build confidence and socialise. His toilet training has gone remarkably well from the start, with only the occasional accident on the deck — usually because Arnie isn’t particularly keen on going outside when it’s raining or the grass is wet! Not unusual for a young puppy. Arnie is a good eater and absolutely loves his treats, which will be a great help with training. He enjoys learning because training gives him something he loves most of all — time and attention from his humans. He took to his harness and lead really well and almost automatically assumed the heel position. Of course, being a puppy, he also enjoys stopping to sniff and investigate everything the world has to offer! Arnie absolutely loves people. He confidently approaches new people with his ever-wagging tail and, if he gets close enough, you may even receive a little lick on the ear. He is affectionate and loves curling up beside his foster mum. Every now and then he even gets an invitation onto her lap — and he thinks that is pretty wonderful! Arnie hasn’t been around children yet, but we think he would most probably love having a young human brother or sister to grow up with. He also loves other dogs. He hasn’t been introduced to cats, so a suitable introduction would need to form part of a formal meet and greet.
