Dog Description
Phoenix
Introducing Phoenix Estimated DOB: July 2024 – He is currently 5-6 months old. A quick back story on Phoenix – Phoenix and his brothers and sisters were found running around the streets of Orewa, skinny and absolutely starving. Now after being in foster care, Phoenix is at an ideal weight and is safe, healthy and ready for his forever home. Phoenix is an absolute stunner and as beautiful as he is on the outside he is also such a lovely pup on the inside! He is very people focused, so he will need company throughout the day – Being such a velcro dog he would love to be with you all day, everyday and it doesn’t matter where. Phoenix is an active pup who loves to play with his toys, run around the yard and explore new things! But his most favorite thing in the world is belly rubs, pats, cuddles and human attention. Phoenix is confident with other dogs and in new surroundings when out on walks. However he can be nervous of new people, so he will need to take slow introductions that are at his own pace. But once he has warmed up to you he is the most loyal and loving pup there is! Phoenix needs someone who has got the time, patience and love to put into him. He is a sweet boy who is very eager to please his humans! Phoenix loves other dogs, he is currently living with our own dogs who are a Bearded Collie (medium/large breed) and a Papillon (small breed). He gets along with them very well and they help give him the confidence he needs at times. Because of this Phoenix would thrive in a home with another dog, however Phoenix is naturally a more dominant dog, so a submissive dog of the opposite sex would work best. Phoenix is very fearful of children so he will need a quiet home with no young kids. Teenagers who are 13+ would be fine. Phoenix will thrive with someone who has the time to focus on him daily, provide good firm leadership and can fully commit to his training. Phoenix is fully toilet trained and crate trained – he currently sleeps in a crate at night, he sleeps through the night without waking and has naps in there during the day. He also knows lots of tricks like “sit”, “down”, “wait”, “OK” and “paw”. However Phoenix is still very young, so therefore he still has so much more to learn, and I know he cant wait to have a family of his own to show him this! Being a suspected Shepherd cross, Phoenix is an extremely intelligent dog and this means he will need someone who is willing to give him the right amount of time, exercise and mental stimulation to keep him fulfilled. He is also still very much obsessed with food as well as toys, so, with a strong food and toy drive teaching him tricks has not been hard! Phoenix is fully vaccinated & microchipped, so he is ready to hit the ground running! Phoenix is fostered in Mt Wellington, he is living here with our own pets who are 2 dogs and a cat – he is great with the cat, keeps clear and will not chase.
