This is Percy, the gentle giant. He was believed to have been born around late 2015/early 2016. We were initially told he was a “foxy cross” but due to his size that might not be the case. He has a very gentle nature, plays well with other dogs and loves children. Percy has also been good with the cats. He thinks he is a lap dog!
This beautiful boy we took on from a lady who said she couldn’t find a rental property. We were told he was a Foxy cross, but we have now discovered he has major problems in his two front legs. Percy’s xrays showed he has bilateral elbow dysplasia with acute flare ups. The vet believes he had an injury when he was young and because it was left untreated he now suffers from this. The vet recommended he be referred to Vetsos for arthroscopy for treatment (operation) for elbow dysplasia however this could cost up to $10,000 and it is in both of his front legs.
He now suffers from osteoporosis arthritis. He is around 3 years old and because of this, his life expectancy has been shortened to around 6 years where if he was healthy he would be looking at around 13-15 years
He is desexed and up to date with his vaccinations.
Percy would suit a forever family that will give him the best dog life there is in the remaining time he has with us. We will do our very best in providing him the best medical care he deserves and would like a family that would continue to support the ongoing care this beautiful boy would need to make him comfortable, healthy and happy. Despite what pain this boy has gone through in his life, he still stays happy and trustful to humans and we just want the very best for him, like with all the other dogs in our care.
This is Percys story:
“Im a 3 1/2 year old dog, not sure what breed I am was told I was a foxy cross but clearly I’m not😊. I had an operation on both of my front knees, as I have arthritis in both knees now. I have an injection once a month and a tablet. I am friendly love cuddles, I do think I’m a lap dog, love playing with my foster sisters , like to go to the park and walk, do try and run but my foster mum says no. My foster mum says I have a beautiful personality and a gentle giant. Love to sit beside you and cuddle up to you. You have to come meet me and see for yourself”
Percy is currently fostered in Hamilton.
