Peggy & Her Pups
Peggy is a sweet girl with a lovely mothering nature. She is estimated to be between 6 – 7 years old. She has not had a good life and appears to have had many litters.
In Dec 2019 she ended up in the Northland Pound, again heavily pregnant, and due to give birth shortly. Thankfully, Summer of Bay of Islands Animal Rescue – Never Ending Story rescued her as she was due to be euthanised with her babies.
Peggy is now desexed, vaccinated and microchipped and has had two bad, broken teeth removed. She gets on with other dogs, in pretty much any environment; but her real love is people. She wants nothing more than to be around and loved by people. She does have a bit of separation anxiety, so will need to be left with something to do if/when her family leaves, until she grows accustomed to that routine.
She is crate-trained, has basic obedience training and walks nicely on a leash. Her new family would need to be careful about over-exciting or over-stimulating her, and to allow her to settle before giving her affection to continue her rehabilitation. She has come into contact with goats but doesn’t seem bothered or interested in them. As yet she has not had any contact with cats.
Prior to having her puppies she had contact with children and appeared quite happy around them. She is currently being homestayed and trained at Cassie’s Canines in Riverhead.
